Dear Miss Ansell,

I have today sent by Chaplin & Co, my suit case and my kit bag with surplus kit. My sword will follow. I now enclose the key to my suit case and a pound which will I think cover charges to be paid on delivery, and any other expense you may be put to; for instance I may want things sent out to me. But I will try not to be too much of a nuisance to you. All leave was stopped some time ago, and since xmas I have not been able to get away. It is not definitely known what day we will leave or what part of France we go to. The King and Earl Kitchener are going to review the division tomorrow, which is a pretty sure sign of our being sent over very soon.

Thanking you for your kindness in taking care of my kit for me I am

Very sincerely yours
Herbert
