My darling girl

I got your letter of 27th yesterday, also my summer suit to-day, but hang it, girl, you have not sent the button rings, I mean the small rings used to fasten the buttons on with, I left them in one of the pockets last fall when I took the buttons off, am now wondering how I am going to fasten the buttons on. We moved from the last place this morning, a ten mile route march a little nearer the line.

Am glad Eric enjoyed his birthday, no wonder he wants them oftener, I do hope his hair is growing again, or do you have to keep it short until the three weeks is up, & am pleased the ringworm has disappeared, you probably got it in time before it spread. About the refills dearie it was 3 I wanted not 3 Doz, consider yourself admonished for not reading orders more carefully, or if I made the error by putting down 3 Doz instead of 3, I apologise. Well dearie we are in the huts this time & fairly comfortable have been too tired to have much of a look around yet, I expect we'll be doing some working parties etc.

Tell Frank am hoping to get a letter from him shortly & to tell me all about the cadets & hurry up those photos.

I see by the papers they are raising the ocean fares to Canada & the States, suffering Pete how the devil do they expect us to get our families back, when it takes all our pay to live, well its no good meeting trouble half-way, we'll get the war over first & then worry about getting home. The weather is fairly hot over here so am going to try & wear my light suit somehow. How is Gwldys [sic] getting on? Fondest love to you & kiddies.

Your loving,

Jim
