My Dear Dad,–

I’ve got an idea that this will be a poor sort of a letter but I think I’d better get it off any way. I received a letter a short time ago from Ma & you and also a fine parcel containing the magazine socks & nuts and it certainly was enjoyed. Thanks to every body for me.

About five days ago we, the band, got word to report back to the battalion for a move, and for the last few days we’ve been hitting the road just in the same style as we used to pull off last summer though the battalion certainly has a lot more system to it than it ever had before I think. Today we passed a place and are now camped near it, where Willie O’Neil and I spent some good times. We expect to go back to the Chaplains Service as soon as we get settled as we’ve left all the music & stands, and two men with them.

Well Dad I think this is all for the present. We’re having fine weather and though its snappy at nights we sleep warmly – a blanket and overcoat. There’s a big Canadian mail in so I expect and letter tomorrow. Love to all.

Your loving Son
Charlie.
