My darling girl,

I got your letter of May 7th two days ago & would have answered it sooner, but as the above address shows am very busy studying, attending lectures etc at this course. Am sorry darling you were so long in getting my letters it's very seldom I miss writing two a week. I forgot to tell you that two weeks ago I saw Billy Ferguson , he is stationed with his Corps about a mile from Risborough. There is one of the 30th Batt officers taking this course with me, he belongs to the Victoria Regiment, Capt Muirhead , he was telling me that Sergt Major Jones from Vancouver has been killed, this is David's friend who made himself known to me on the boat coming over, Muirhead thought a lot of him. This course I am taking lasts for three weeks, but you still address my letters to Risborough. I hope Annie has got through her confinement all OK, am addressing this letter to you there, & I hope you & the kiddies, also dear old Ciss are having a good time, am going to send you another 50 bones in a few days. Everything looks beautiful here now, the 2nd Contingent are now nearly all here & are all stationed near this neighbourhood. I trust Frank got the letter I wrote to him some time ago, as I am hoping to hear from him soon, I suppose he will be going to school while you are with Annie, it would be a pity for him to lose any schooling, but I guess you'll look after that alright. I got a letter from Jack a few days ago, must write to him soon. I have all your photos facing me on the mantlepiece as I write, & I just wish I could put my arms around you all, I think it's an awful [sic] good photo of Gwladys, she is going to be a beautiful girl, I hope her disposition will be like her mother's & then she will be alright. Fondest love to Frank, Gwladys, Eric & yourself, love to Ciss, Annie & David & the little one which I hope has arrived.

Your loving hubby,

Jim
