Dear Niece -

Just a few lines to let you know I am well at present and hope this will find you’s all the same,

I received the parcel you sent all O.K. many thanks for it I also received one from the D.Y.B Club must acknowledge it today to.

I think I told you in one of my letters that Dan Astley was dead well it wasen’t true he is in England. I guess he was a pretty sick boy for awhile but he pulled through it.

I saw Harold the other day but only got a chance to talk to him for a few minutes.

Our company was on rest for ten days we sure had a good time we only drilled for an hour in the morning and the rest of the day we went in for sport such as baseball football boxing etc.. but we are back in the lines now again.

I say Fred and Percy Hermiston when we were on rest. Percy got my address from Mrs. Minorgan and they looked me up. I was with them all one afternoon,

Well Gladys this is the 24th of May I suppose you’s will have a holiday today

Do you ever see Earnest, I havent had a letter from him for over two months now I asked him to send me some tobacco just after I came to France but he hasen’t sent it yet at least I never got any from him if he sent it it must of went astray anyway it wouldent hurt him to write once and a while. Well I think this will be all for this time so with love to all will say good bye
