My darling girl,

We have just finished embarking on the above boat & expect to sail in a few minutes, & maybe a few hours. This is a very nice boat; & the accomodation [sic] is splendid I got Frank's letter this morning was brought down by one of the officers of the Left Half Battalion who left Winnipeg later than we did.

The weather here is quite Springlike hardly any snow had a good drive around Halifax yesterday, & saw quite a bit of the town, it has the name of being the most English town in Canada & I believe that's right.

Well darling excuse this short letter if I have the time I will write you another before we sail. Fondest love to the kiddies & yourself, & love to all the girls.

Your loving hubby,

Jim.
