My darling wife,

Have just a few minutes to scribble off a few lines, am Captain of the Day so have to stay in Barracks, one of the other officers is going to the city & is going to post this so that you will get it tomorrow, had intended going to the Andrews today but of course being on duty again put the kybosh on that. I meet [sic] Mr. & Mrs. Will Mitchell in the city last night, & to day Will Mitchell came up here & I showed him around, this afternoon Will Hodnett came up, so I have not been so lonely. About those books you say you got from Eatons I never ordered any, are you sure they dont belong to some of the other Evans. I hope the kiddies are alright by now, anyway I hope they'll be in good shape for Christmas. [I went] to Eatons yesterday afternoon bought a big doll for Gwladys, and something for Gwen & Lloyd, let me know if you want me to get anything for Frank more than the skates, I thought we might buy a few things from Clarks.

Well darling I will have to draw to a close as the officer is ready dressed & waiting.

Am sending you another little donation.

Fondest love to you and the kiddies, love to the rest.

Your loving hubby,

Jim
