Dear Mother:-

I will just write a short letter to acknowledge yours of May 6th. Also yours May 17th with Martha's of Apl. 20th enclosed. Also got a letter from Lorn Herbert dated Apl. 6th but post stamped May 18th.

I have heard nothing of my leave yet, but hope to get it soon i.e. within a few weeks.

Am glad you are safely moved. Ina's letter was written on the 49th Anniversary of your wedding. I hope you may have many more and that both you and father are long spared in health and happiness.

We have made great gains north of where we are, and our front here has been quiet and this Rgt. fortunately quiet since I came to it.

I wrote Rhoda not long ago and also wrote home, so will not write much now.

With love to all.
Yours afftly.,
Alex.
