Dear Mother:-

Since writing you last on the train we have been up to London and spent Fri., Sat., Sun., Monday & Tues. there, returning last night. We are to report to-morrow for departure for France and to-day I have got all my things ready. I am leaving one trunk, one leather suit-case and one club bag. I am leaving instructions as to putting my name on my belongings and advising you as to whose care it is in. I had to buy a lot of things in London but got everything I needed and am well equipped. London is a wonderful place, but so dark at night it is impossible to see anything. Sunday I saw sone very nice places. There are eight officers drafted from our Battalion, and we understand we are all to be in the 38 Bn. However the best way to address letters will be Army P.O. London as before.

Will write as soon as we get settled. Love to all,
Alex.
