No.11 Squadron R.F.C.
B.E.F.

July 13th.

Dear Mrs. Robertson:

I very much regret having to inform you that your husband, Capt. C.E. Robertson, did not return last night from a flight over the German lines and is posted as missing.

From reports that I have received. I think your husband's machine was hit by hostile gun fire, but as he fell or landed on the German side of the lines, it is impossible at present to get any accurate information. Should I hear further news of him from any source I will at once write to you.

Capt. Robertson is one of the most gallant and capable officers I have been associated with, and his absence will be a serious loss to the Squadron where his work has been so appreciated by all.

I hope I shall be able to get definite news soon.

Yours very sincerely,
(Signed) C.T. Maclean, Major.
