109th Regiment, Canadian Militia.
Toronto, May 19th, 1916.

To Pte. A. T. Platt,
505 Adelaide Street W., Toronto.

My dear Platt,-

I have learned with the greatest regret of the death of your son, Lieutenant L. Beauchamp Platt, M.A., who was killed in action in France recently. At a time like this, it is hardly possible that anything that I can say would mitigate the great loss you have sustained.

However, one has to realize that the liberties that the Empire has enjoyed for times long past, has always been sealed by the blood of her sons; and you will feel that the blow is softened by the remembrance of the fact, that your son gave up his home, the brilliant career that was in store for him and even his own life, to the call of duty.

Again expressing my deep regret, I am,
Yours very sincerely,
W.S. Dinnick. Major.
Officer commanding 109th Regiment.
