My Dear Dad, Mother & All

On this, the occasion of my first Green Envelope I ought to write a lot but time won’t allow. I received Aunt C.A’s parcel of candy o Dec 13 about Jan 16 and it went well I can assure you. When I get a parcel there are always a dozen enquiries “Is That Glengarry Fudge”? May has established a good rep. here and there are others including Kenzie who furnish good dainties too. All round I pride myself in being the best fudge getter on the section.

I got a letter from Miss MacLeod with a beautiful crisp greenback in it – 5 francs (=$1). I think I’ll “souvenier” it.

Here’s a small message for Charlie. If he grows bigger’n me, there will have to be an “Assault-at-arms” when we meet. Get ready, Charlie.

And what a slam on my lovely sweater to plaster a big “M” on it. The only thing that saves Dave from a nerve-racking heart-rending reading-down is my intuition to enter “M” après le []. He’d better go ahead an win all the decorations for the sweater while he has it for I’m not going in for any on my return. Oh no! I’m very peace loving an if anyone insults me after I return I’ll agree with him rather than argue the toss and endanger my most precious hide. You’ll see written on my heart après la fini not “Calais”, but “Safety First”. N’uff said.

Got a parcel form Allie & Lil. It was mighty good. Guess they’re as happy in their oneness as ever.

Saw Jack Donnelly a few days ago and just missed him today. Give Kathleen and all in the Peg my love. I’ll be writing to them some day.

Mother said something about hardship in one of her letters. Now I’m having a fairly good time and enjoying life generally, so don’t think I am hiding anything.

I’d like you to send my watch as soon as possible.

I’ll bet it was a strange xmas at home. No gluttons; lots of turkey, no chase after the carcass, no session for Web and me after the concert in the kitchen.

I was indeed very sorry to hear of Mr. Lewis Grant’s death. I’ll write to Mrs. G later.

Something must be going to happen when Mother takes sick! I don’t know much about lumbago but guess it’s painful. I hope you don’t have any more of it Mother.

And from all accounts you don’t seem to be upholding his old rep for winter cold, Dad. I hope you and May hold out against Jack Frost till Spring.

Well here’s a health to you all. I’m feeling good and healthy.

My love to Dr. Gunns, The Nicholsons, and all the rest.

Your loving

Mac

Kindly excuse the writing as it’s not very easy scribbling on the ceiling of my domicile.
