It has been two weeks since I last wrote, but I’ve had reason. I suddenly took sick when I was on course. The local M.O. put me to bed for three days in the sick bay but as my temperature stayed around 104 degrees, he decided I would be better off in a hospital. I arrived at a British base on the 18th and have been there ever since. My fever has left me and I feel perfectly fit and today they will let me get up. The M.O. took five blood tests for malaria but they were all negative. He must have sounded my chest a dozen times for a sign of weakness and today I had an X-ray taken. I don’t however expect to find anything wrong and should return to the battle soon. The M.O. is very puzzled because he says I shouldn’t run such a high temperature without some apparent cause. The nurses here are quite attractive and very obliging, so I really have enjoyed the rest. ----
