Well, here I am again to say “Hello” and “Cheerio” for a week, as I go on leave in the morning. This just makes it three months since I had my last one. I was in Battle yesterday and visited the Abbey there. I bought some postcards which I will send on later. I climbed to the top of one of the battlements and there for posterity carved my initials, name and battery. The castle is in a remarkable state of preservation considering its great age and well worth a visit. The stone used in the construction is for the most part a soft brown sandstone, which in many places is worn very thin. I noticed this particularly in the stairs leading to the battlements.

Well, it’s late and I must pack before hitting the hay, so will close now with love to all.
