My Dear Mother, -

I have just time before supper mess to write you two or three lines. This morning I was up before the doctor this morning for re-examination. He said that there was no reason why my arm should not be as straight and strong as it ever was. He said that it had grown stiff from carrying it in a sling and not using it. He is sending me out to the hospital tomorrow to have it straightened. He proposes to put me under an anasthetic [sic] & force it straight in one operation with screw-on splints. It will probably be a little painful for a while and I may not be able to write very easily, but will let you know know how it is as soon as possible. The hospital is in Hastings and is a good one I believe. I do not mind the prospects of a few weeks in a hospital again, but when I come out this time, I will probably be all O.K and ready to go back to have another crack at Fritz

With love to all

In haste

Your own boy
