My own dearest girlie.

This is just a line from daddy to let you know that he has not forgotten you & that he loves you just as much as ever, every time Mamma writes to me she tells me what a fine big girl you are & how well you are getting on at school & it makes me feel very proud indeed. Now Eileen, I hope that you are always a good girl & that you are helping your Mamma all you can, you know I want you to help Mamma & obey her in all things, you must make it as easy for her as you can, if you don’t & Mamma falls sick what will daddy do. I have been away from you now for a long time dear but I hope to get home again soon, & wont I be glad to see my dear little son & daughter again, you were quite small when I left, but I suppose I will hardly know you, you will have grown so, pay strict attention to your teacher & do your lessons every day & you will please daddy ever so much. Kiss your Mamma & George & give them both a great big love from dad & with heaps & heaps of love & kisses for yourself

I remain always your own loving Daddy
