Dear Aunt Katie,-

I suppose that you will think that I am not very gratefull in not writing and acknolding your much appreciated parcel that I received some time ago but I went to the hospital just after getting it and I have just got out so I will try and be a little prompter next time.

I had an attack of rheumatism and lumbago the climate is a lot different here than what I have been accustomed to at home and it doesnot agree with me very well but if we keep advancing the way they have this last few days I don't think we will be out here such a great while longer.

I have not heard from home for about a month but the last time I heard evrybody was well.

The hospital that I was in was run by an American Staff and there were several of the sisters that came not far from home so it made it kind of nice for me.

Well I hope that you are in the best of health and I want to thank you very much for the package that you sent me because anything like that comes in very handy especially ciggarettes well give my best regards to all the family hoping they are all well.

I will close with lots of love

from Your Nephew

John
