Dear Mother

Just a short one this time as I haven't much news. I found out about Mr.Dayton. What is left of his battalion is stationed within 4 a mile of here. I met a fellow who new him. You remember he said that Fiddler knew of me at the college. Well this was a friend of Fiddlers that I met. Fiddler was wounded on 2nd of June and Mr. Dayton was captured along with his chums and a bunch more. That's official. As to Sid his battalion was cut up but he's allright. He was transferred to CMR's after that and is now back about eight miles in a place where we came through. For a rest I think. Last night about ten of the College fellows met here by lunch and we had a fine time. Were going tonight to dig gun pits. We'll I think Im due for a sleep mother so good bye for now.

Your loving Son,

Bert
