Dear Ollie:

This is Wed. and I received the box you sent on May 20th and Jack had one from home, but he is in hospital somewhere and I don’t know just where but had a field card from today and he said he was going to write as soon as he had a chance.  Hope to get a letter tomorrow so am waiting to hear from him for he may be back in few days for I don’t think he was gassed very bad.

I opened his letter from you for I wanted to read it before I sent it along to him.

We are all out of the line again for a few days.  Don’t know just how long it will be for you made a mistake about seeing Angus’ picture in that group for he was in France at the time.

The boys was telling me that Phil Beals and Vern Wilson was killed this last trip up the line.  Quite a lot of the boys got napooed, we had quite gassed but not bad enough to hurt them only give them a little rest.

Zade is getting uneasy, thinks they may have to come across.  Well I think likely they will land a good may more.

Have conscription but it seems a shame after the way the Canadians signed on to have to come to force to get a few men that should have come at the very first of the war.

Thank Lorna for the box of candy, it was good of her to send it.  I will write her if I ever get time but I think I am doing well to write to our own people.  Don’t know any more to write so will saw off for this time.
