Wednesday, September 19th.

I left writing too late last evening and just missed the mail today, so am sorry not to have even sent a card.

I have no special news; went away yesterday to fly back a machine but it was not ready so I came back quite late.

Tonight I am going on a dangerous "stunt" and have to cross the lines at about six thousand, dive down to a thousand or under and drop two bombs on any favorable target on the road and then harass troops with machine gun fire. I will have an escort much higher up and barring engine trouble should get back O.K. My engine is much more reliable now with another propeller which does not cause it to heat so much.

Today a very high Westerly wind is blowing and I hope it will decrease by the evening.

Sorry you did not care much for the photographs! I just rushed in and sat for them in a hurry!! Personally I rather like them. What you said about poor old Inglis made me laugh.

I am very well and fit and this life seems to agree with me. It's very tiring sometimes though.

Have nothing to write about now, dear Dad, but will write a short line when I get back tonight. Write soon and often. Must get down to the 'drome now and see everything is O.K. with my bus.
