My dear Mr Irwin

Just a line in answer to you very welcome letter received this evening & I want to tell you that we are off overseas in the morning & I want to tell you that if you will take my advice you will not let Karl sign up at all as it is too strinuous a life for a boy & he would not get any nearer than England if he came over so keep him at home. I am pleased that Mrs Irwin is getting along pretty good & you will soon have a platoon all to your self. So with this I will come to a close & will write more from the other side as I am in a hurry we have to pack up tonight. So good by to you all & kind regards to all also.

From your humble servant
