29th December 1944.

Dear Mr Trusler:

Once again Xmas Day has come & gone just like any other ordinary day does, but I would like to take this opportunity of thanking you, the teachers & the pupils for contributing so much to make it a Happy Xmas.

I was very pleased and very happy to receive your Xmas parcel. I’m sure all the ex members of Humewood School were thinking back, just as I was, on all the good times, scoldings etc that we had at school, and it was comforting in no small way to know that the folks back home are still remembering.

England is a lovely country right now, although we’ve had no snow as yet, the frost makes one wish & think of Canada and it makes us all that much more determined to do our very utmost and see if we cannot finish off this “job” we have to do in the coming year, so that Xmas 1945 will see no families parted.

Thank you one & all & I wish you all the very best in the coming new year.

Sincerely

E.C. Buck
