Dear Mrs Wood

Very many thanks for your kind letter + also for the dollar bill, which I received this morning. I am sure it is very kind of Mrs. Pugle to give you my address + also it is very kind of your friends to think about my son Harry.

I suppose you will know from Mrs. Pugle he is a prisoner of war. Harry has assigned 1 pound per month out of his pay to the Canadian Red X which is a very splendid thing, he is receiving a 5/0 parcel every week from his pay, + also, the Canadian Red X send a 4/0 parcel from the Society itself, therefore he is receiving a 12/0 parcel every week.

I + my relations have been sending parcels also every week but since Dec. 1st there has been another arrangement made + that is all parcels go through the Can. Red X. Harry will have to let me know what he wants the most, + then I send a list + a p.o. + the Can. Red X send it to him. I shall write + tell him what you have done for him + I am sure he will appreciate all you kind thoughts + I thank you all very, very, much.

I do wish this cruel war will soon be over + I pray incessantly to keep my boy safe + well, the only comfort I have is that the same God is looking down on him at the same time he is caring for me. I had a letter from him a fortnight ago, in it he said he was well + also that he had received a letter from Mrs. Pugle along with several others which he had received from us.

Thanking you again for your great [?] to my son. Believe me

Yours Very Sincerely,
Annie Mellor

P.S.

I will write again + let you know what I have informed the Can. Red X to send him for the dollar bill.
