Aug 21: went on six days leave with Jack Briard to Jersey. One day in Southhampton waiting for the boat. Met some of Jack's cousins. Caught night boat. All soldiers and sailors on submarine guard. A little sea sick. Reach Jersey in morning and met by Jack's aunts and go to his grandfather's home [address: Mrs J.I. Briard; Fairview Bagot; St Saviours; Jersey; Channel Islands]. Have a nice quiet time for four days. Walk around the island and have picics every day. Took morning boat and arrived at Southhampton about noon. Went to J's cousin till night. Night train to Victoria and missed late train to Brighton. Spent night in YMCA and caught early morning train to Brighton. Eight hours overdue on pass but nothing said.
