Dear Friends

Just a few lines hoping that you will excuse me for writing But Miss N. Hodgson asked me to drop you a few Lines and i wish to thank you for your kindness in sending me these nice presents which i must say are welcome at this time of the year & in this kind of Living where you have to face all kinds of weather conditions and to stay in the mud a man need something to keep him warm if you have good warm things to wear it prevents you from falling sick and this helps to Beat the Germans. But we cant keep out of the Hospital and quite a Lot of men are Lost by not being able to stand the wet and cold But where we are at present is the worst part of the western front and we had Just Left it after a heavy Lose to our unit we have Been hit quite hard this time and i hope we will not have to return for some time. Well i dont know what to tell you as we are not allowed to say to much in regards to where we are or what is happening so I will try to write a more interesting letter Next time.

I remain yours sincerely Pte N. Morris
