93rd Sqdn R.F.C. Stockbridge 2/1/18 My Dear Alice, It was indeed a very pleasant surprise for me today when I got your parcel. I'm sure I dont know how to thank you enough for it. It was so well packed that everything was in perfect condition after having been on the way for six weeks. It was awfully nice of you to send it and I enjoyed it so much because it is almost impossible to get sweets of any sort in England now especially in such a little tiny village as we are in now. The weather is keeping so bad that we don't get a chance to do much flying but I was up for half an hour this morning. Mother is awfully worried over me being in the R.F.C. I know but still I've got as good a chance as anybody. I am in a scout squadron and my job will be hunting down German aeroplanes but of course I tell Mother that it isn't a very dangerous job in order to keep her heart up. I haven't heard from Frank for a week or two but I guess he's alright and has a jolly fine job now I think and is pretty safe. Well I have no more this time but I send you and the kiddie my kindest regards and love. Thanking you again ever so much. I am Yours very sincerely Dave
