B.E.F.France

Nov. 19/17

My dear Fern:

I got a couple more letters from you and Dad yesterday that Mr Metcalf had forwarded to me at the Pool. I wrote to Dad a couple of days ago and gave him my address - 19 Sqdrn R.F.C B.E.F. France.

I told Cox & Co, my London bankers (ahem!) to send £10 to N.F.Co. Dad has power to sign there for me and I want you to draw out what money I will have there (Some sixty dollars and buy some Christmas present for yourself & Grannie. I am sending Dad a small parcel but if there is anything you want to buy him go ahead. Also I want you to do something else. I want you to buy something for May (out of the sixty odd) and give it to her from yourself but for goodness' sake don't spend all the money on her. Even it up between the two of you. If this isn't enough get some more & charge it to me. Remember that you are giving (whatever you do give) to May from yourself so do just as you please and "please don't mention my name."

I have had a couple of fly's around the country just to get my bearings but it will probably be quite a while before I am allowed over the lines as a matter of fact the squadron is going back to refit in a couple of weeks and we are going to get a new kind of bus. We will probably have a month or so to practice on it and it may be four or five months before we do anything and it will be a long time before I get over the lines at all.

I have written to the little devil a couple of times since I came here but have not heard from him yet.

I expect [?] will be home by the time you get this. He said he would go in and see you when he got home.

I enclosed a bank not in the last letter I sent to Dad. I got it in the town just near to the pool while I was there.

Will you ask Dad to let me have a couple of copies of his signature next time he writes me.

Love to all

Gord
