My dear Dad:

Well! I am still here. Six days now. Got some mechanics up from Rugby but they cannot get the engine to go decently and I am getting some help from Scampton to-day.

I am getting along fine however. This is a peach of a hotel. I get the best meals here I have had in England. Had a fine steak last night and a couple of chops the night before. Two inches thick. You know! The kind you read about in books. The only thing I can't get away from is "stewed plums." They follow me all round. England is overrun with stewed plums and custard. I'll bet I've eaten over three million of the things since I landed here.

Expect to find a big batch of mail waiting for me when I get back to Scampton. (If I ever do) and will write you again as soon as I get there.

Love to all,

Gord
