Aug 13, 1917.

Dear Dad:

Just a couple of lines. I am leaving for Lincoln in the morning and have just finished packing up. I have written Kathleen & Grannie a couple of times. Be sure see their letters.

Have been around quite a bit lately. The Tower Westminster, a couple of art galleries. I met Max last night. He had about 24 hours leave. I expect to have lunch with him today. The weather here has been absolutely rotten until today. I put in a couple of hours on [?] last week and hot away with them pretty good. I have been transferred to another flight now to fly Sopwith Pups.

Where is Beatty at present? Do you know? I think I asked you that before. It might come in handy to know although I think he was in an art of squadron (artillery observation) while I (at present at least) am flying fighting scouts.

Max just showed me some pictures that he was sending to Kathleen.
How are you getting along? Are you feeling better? or are you working just the same as ever.

I told K that I had been down to Sidcup. Mr. Metcalfe has been very decent to me. I am afraid I have put him to quite a lot of trouble. I have not heard from you as yet but will call Mr M. up in the morning before I go see if there is anything in.

I think I'll leave this town about £20 poorer than when I came in. It sure is an expensive place. However I have about £50 pay allowance in the bk that I haven't touched yet so am fixed fine. And of course the balance (about £60 of what you gave me.) Have bought a trench coat £7/7- & pair of slacks, [?] shades, & a couple of other things and have been to a couple of theatres Gaiety & another one, Gaiety seat /11/6 - about $2.75. Certainly have to keep up appearances in the R.J.C.
Don't know what you have been saying to Metcalfe as he offered me £10 the other day. However I told him I have lots.

I am sending some snaps along in a few days.

Write me & let me know how you are keeping & don't work to hard. Tell Fern that I don't know of anything I want.

With love

Gord

P.S.

I'm not sure exactly how many letters I have written so will start over again & call this number one.

Gord
