Dear Alice -
Just a few lines in reply to your welcome letter of Aug.17.18  I am now at the Canadian Discharge Depot, Witley and expect to sail for Canada about the 20th of Sept.  I am enclosing that wee bit of white Heather the last piece I have also a piece of pink from Bramshott and hope you will like them.  I have had my old Pal Cartwright over to see me from France.  But I don't think you know him and several of the other boys of the 245th Batt has just been killed.  Well I think I have said all for the present, and will have more to tell you when I see you.
