Dear Joe

Just a few lines to say that I received another parcel from the Arran Ladies. Please give thank them for me. It was in good shape too. I forgot to say in my other letter that I wasn't near Frank when he was killed. I didn't know till I came back from leave. But very few of his mates are here now. They try to form a cemetery in different places, and put up crosses and the names of the soldiers and number and date he was killed, and keep them clean and tidy. They will likely plant flowers on them too. I was hit on the back with something, and a bullet went through a can on my shoulder and lots on each side of my head, but never needed any dressing yet. I am quite well. Hope you are all well too. I am your friend,
