Dear Pa

Rec'd your letter of July 15 and glad to hear from you and that you were getting over your cold. The weather is pretty good here now altho we have heavy rains quite often. I have been in the machine gun section the last few trips and like it about as well as the bombers. Geordie is still in the bombers and was away on a course for a while.

We are not in the line just now but are taking a short rest. They tried to gas us the last time in but the most of use came through O.K. Had to wear our gas helmets for half an hour - That gas stinks like rotten pineapple.

I saw the paymaster the other day and sent a remittance of 50.00 to Lil as they are paying those taxes on my lots.

Well Pa there isn't much more to say so will close hoping this finds you all to the merry as leaves me & Geordie.

Your Loving Son
Al.
