My Dearest Jack

Yesterday I rec'd another letter back through the dead letter office, so I am sending it on to you again. I sent it while I was at Duncans & of course they sent it back there. I am sorry dea that you haven't been getting them as it is so disappointing to both of us. I have written every week, & of course I've sent a few to Germany, Nicia & Jim also sent one to Germany last week but I don't suppose they will send them back to us. Well dearie how are you getting on? We hope you are not suffering very much with your poor knee. I am longing for a line from you, your last letter was written April 22nd, but of course Jim had the two postcards since. I'm sure you'll be anxious for mail too, as you can't be getting them, because they are coming back to me.

We had a picnic on our beach yesterday. (July 1st) Wasn't it last year we went to Goldstream on that date? It seems a hundred years ago to me. I thought about you when Leo squeezed the teapot dry at the finish. You usually managed to come in for that job. The Skeltons, the Lovitts, Alice & the baby & two other married couples, Bonnie & her sister & a few youngsters besides ourselves made up the bunch, & we had a pretty nice time, the boys made a raft & there was the usual fun on it. I got on it once & nearly overbalanced it, so I had to get off again. Alice's baby is being Christened on Sunday, "Ruth Eileen," not Jack after you as Charley proposed. I think he forgot it was a little girl. I am invited to Dorothy Kershaw's wedding on Monday, she is marrying Eddy Woodward you know. They have had the house at the nurseries fixed up beautifully, & the reception is to be held there. Now dearie I must close with kind regards from all friends & tons of love & kisses from Your Loving Kate. XXXXXXXX
