Dear Brother,

Well how is everything going on in Manitoba?

I am glad to hear that you are nearly finished sowing your sheet and it wont take you very long now to finish it up. So you had a letter from Torles[?]. The 49 battalion are in the trenches now. They generally camp around where we are. All the Canadians are near one another.

Geore[?] Money has got transferred back into our company and is in the same platoon as I am. The 43rd baseball team played the P P.C.L.G[?]. and beat them about 8-2. We have certain [?] some baseball teams. Most of them are [?] fellows. We have had a draft from the 44th battalion to reinforce us. Quite a few fellows have got Lee Enfield rifles. They watch[?] around and pick up old ones and clean them up. I have still got the "Old Son[?] Hugh's yet, that is what the lads call the [?].

Well Frank [?] and you send your 24th of May this year. I know where I spend mine[?] last year and also this year.

This is about all the news.

From Your loving brother
John
