Dear Gerald,
Received your letter last night and was certainly glad to hear from you. Did not get the card yet [censored]. Have written you twice in care of the Red Cross, but you may get this first.
We are all well. Dad had his holidays the first half of Sept. The weather was rainy, but has been finer since. We have had no heavy frost yet & the fields are still green. Only a few trees have turned yet.
Glad to hear that you are getting your Red Cross parcels so soon. I'll send a parcel soon. Wish I know what you need as I can only send one every three months. Catherine sent me some hard candy for your parcel.
Ivan and Eubil were having their were having their holidays together last time he wrote and in the same old town. He said he had pictures taken again but they were not much better than the last. Your picture was in the Graphic last Week. Enid and Cecil, Percy and Edith were down last Sunday.
Hope to hear from you soon again. Let me know if you need a sweater with sleeves.
Love,
Mother
