Dear Mother

I hope you are all quite well. We are getting along fine so far, & are having a very quiet time, they have read us out such a list of the things we cannot say, that I really don't know what we can say.

Yesterday was a very fine day, but about 6 in the evening it started to rain & rained all night, but we were lucky enough to be under cover, so we didn't mind it. It has just started to rain again. I hope we don't have to move for a while, we have been doing quite a lot of moving the last few days. I haven't seen anyone out here yet that I know.

Yesterday I was learning French. A little girl where we were camped was teaching me, she gave me two boxes of cigarettes when we moved out.

I have had some great feeds of blackberries out here, the hedges are full of them.

This is not nearly such a nice looking country as England, it is much flatter, but I should think that it is a very good farming country. I've not seen much stock around perehphs the German's drove it away last fall.

I cant think of anything to say that wont be crossed out

Give my love to them all at home

I remain

Your loving son

Tommy
