Dear mother

I received you first letter addressed to Mindon today, you have the address quite right.

I am very glad to hear that you got the Harvest in quite safe & that it is such a good one. I am sorry that you havent had a letter for so long, I've written my letter to you every two weeks.

I am busy knitting a sweater now it is more fun than sock, & it will be very useful after the War, I used to have to Buy one every Winter in Canada. I got the address of that Drayton fellow at Dulmen after I had left there, so of course I was unable to see him.

I got some very nice Books sent to me from Mrs Griffin, will you write & thank her for them, it is very good of her to send them to me.

I dont know if Billy Cannon can write to my from mustor, I dont think you can write from one camp to the other without it is very particular.

The Bacon you said you were sending will be fine, we have a stove in the camp for cooking on.

Thank you very much for sending the Wool, I waiting for it very anxiously if it is a straight color I am going to use it to make the collar & cuffs of my sweater.

We are having lovely weather now, yesterday afternoon we has a game of Football. there is a fine ground just outside the camp, & we are allowed to go out there & play, it makes it very nice, besides one need the exercise.

When I left England I sent a Kit Ba full of clothes & things to a place in Shorncliff to be stored for me, I wonder if they would send the stuff to you; it had my name & Reg [?] on the Bag & 3rd CMR. I am shure who you would have to write to. but it was left in charge of the Base Details (3rd CMR.) at a Storage Co in Cheriton Rd.

If you havent send those knitting needles that I asked for dont trouble to now, I can borrow some to go on with.

I am sorry to hear that they havent had any news of Ted Pitchford, none of the Boys here know anything of him.

maggie seems to be having a pretty good time out in Canada, I heard from her regular now.

give my love to Emmy & all at Home & my very best love to little Joan. I hope Sam was a lucky as you were in getting in his crop

I remain

your loving Son

Thomas.

(PS) Dont trouble to send any clothes just now I have lots.
