Dear Mother

Thank you very much for your letter & the Parcel that I got a few days ago, I go a parcel of Tobacco from Emmie the same day, it is awful good of you sending things to me, I am afraid I must be a lot of trouble to you.
I was very pleased to get your letter this afternoon, I'm glad that the Lep's dont get around Drayton, I've never seen one yet, but I heard the Engines of ones going away up above us one night in the Trenches it raided some Town down south of us, of course they are no good against a Trench, they couldnt hit one in a thousand years I am sorry I didn't write to you last week but I am shure you will excuse me you know it is pretty hard to get the time & place well to write sometimes,

I saw Ted P. the other day he wished to be remembered to you all when next I wrote he had a sprained ankle but is getting better, again now
It is fine the way the French are holding out isnt, I guess the German losses must be some-thing awful, "but we should worry" the more the merrier. The Weather out here has been very bad lately, it has snowed nearly every day, but we have put up with it pretty good so far, & I think will manage to survive till Spring.

Fancy Jack Eardley getting married, I guess he will be coming, around once in a while now to give the Boys a few hints in farming, now the has a farm of his own. Would'nt it be an awful joke if he got called up now.

Hugh had better get busy on the tennis Court I might be getting my pass in a month or so, would'nt I just like to get back for a few days, of course the War doesnt worry us out here so much as the People in England, worry about it, I guess that mostly because we know were doing all we can anyways, we have lots of fun out here, it reminds me of being at school again the Boys are just full of fun all the time, & make a joke of everything that comes along, even when they are being shelled someone always raising a laugh about something, we get quite a lot of fun out of Fritz too they have some fancy name for all of Fritz snipers & his different kind of guns, the only sad part about it is missing the different Boys that go under. I had a long letter from maggie this week, the had a very cold winter out there I guess, I glad I wasnt out there myself, she said that they had lots of trouble with their water Pipes.

Well I must end now, give my love to Emmie & all at Home

I remain

your loving

Tommy

(P.S.) The Health Salts you sent me were fine, I have'nt used them all yet, they are fine for Headaches.
