Dear Mother

This is my first letter since I left Minden. I wrote you a postcard from Saltau, I hope you got that all right, we are at a camp on the moors in the Province of Hannover, the address is at the top of the letter, the Z stands for detachment, it is nice and open around here and the camp is nearly all British, just a few French & Russians & Belges. I haven't had any packets since I left Minden. I expect they will be along in a few days now.

It is quite a long time since I had a letter from either you or Maggie, but I suppose that is owing to the changing around. Will you write to the Red Cross & give them my change of address. I think the war office wrote & told you I had been sent to this camp last winter, if I remember right you said so in one of your letters.
