Dear Mom:

Well I am still here, am feeling much better now. There is just a little swelling in the corner of the eye lid. I can see out of the eye now although the pupil is still dilated a little from the drops they put in it. Everything was quite fuzzy for a few days but that has cleared up pretty well now.

There has been a change in the weather today. We woke up this morning to see a fresh fall of snow, it has been snowing off and on all day but it has not turned cold as yet and I hope it does not.

We have a pretty good time in here, the only trouble is that the nurses are all officers and you have to watch yourself. They are very good though they all take a lot of ribbing and dish it out too but if any of the boys get to[o] rough they sure slap them down, one of the boys lost six days pay the other day for not doing what he was told.

There are a CWACs working in here as nurses aids and what not. We have a lot of fun with them.

You remember the dog that I was carving, well I finished it here and one of the CWACs took it and that is the last I'll see of it I guess.

We have a radio in the ward but half of the time you can't get anything on it. We listen to the Happy Gang every day.

The hospital is just across the tracks from the CNR station. Every night when the lights go out it seems to be a signal for the trains to start and they keep it up for the next 2 hours.

Well I'll close now.

Love to all
Ted
