Mr. Dear Father,

I received your welcome letter a few days ago.

I saw that clipping you sent some time ago. I have been trying to get in the aviation corps right along. They won't take you unless you have a certificate from the American or Canadian aviation Assn's or what ever their correct names are. But if one goes to the expense of getting his cert. They refund you $350.00, and they give you an outfit worth a couple of hundred dollars, but I think it would cost $500 to get a certificate, and counting your fare east, and your living expenses during your course, which would come to all together about $750.00. I hardly think it worth $400 to learn, when your are giving yourself to your country, I don't think they want aviators very badly, or they would offer more undue consent to join. Well father, I must close now, as I am going out on the M-C.

Don't forget to mail me my $10.00 gold piece. Will write more fully again [?] able.

Your Loving Son

George.
