Dear Father;

Just a few lines to let you know that I am quite well. I sent you a field post card a few days ago, but have had not opportunity to write since. I dont know if I will be able to get this posted to-day or not, but will get it finished and mail it as soon as possible. Will you tell mother that you have heard from me, and that I will write her myself at the earliest opportunity.

I suppose you have read all about the Great Easter Advance, and the part the Canadians took in it. If you should get an opportunity to see any of the moving pictures of it, you might see me amongst the other boys. I was right near the [?], and am the first man in a party of twelve or thirteen advancing in single file.

I believe Jack Mathison and Edwin Davey were both wounded. Also one of the Greenards. Arthur Lewis, [?] Pryde, Tom [?] and the rest of us are all O.K.

Thank you for your parcel of about April the second. The other hasnt arrived yet, but am expecting it any time now. I wouldn't trouble sending any more cigarette tobacco, as we can get good cigarettes every cheap here. You know all the tobacco for the troops comes duty free. If at any time there is any difficulty in getting any, I will let you know and you can start sending it again

I would like you to send me a wrist watch. Get a good one, and also a good stout protection (metal) for it. Be sure and let me know just what it costs, and I will tell mother to take it out of the money she has of mine. I want a good reliable one which I suppose can be got for from 30 to 40 shillings, at the most. Have luminous face of course. Now dont trouble to get this till you have quite the money to spare, and send
