Dear Mother:-

I received your last letter last Wednesday saying that Dad had joined. I received a bigger surprise however when he came to the tent door on Sunday night and asked for me. I went right back with him as we could not find Syd. He is about a mile and a half from us on the other side of the coulee, in Moore Barracks. They have dandy quarters with fireplaces (old married quarters). They are just like a terrace, in fact nearly all houses are in terraces here. The sea is right below them. When I told Syd Monday morning he could hardly believe it. Dad came up to see him at noon while I was away to the ranges. Then we both went down to see him after supper and had a very happy evening. I did not go down tonight as I had to write you.

I received a letter from Mr. Parrott last night saying he had just written to Frank and tonight I received a very nice letter from Grandad with one of yours enclosed saying that Dad had gone and that Granma had arrived.

The three of us are going to try and get a weekend together and go to Tunbridge Wells. Dad enjoyed his trip very much. Syd gets letters now and again from Lil. I have had no further correspondence from Granma but Mr. Parrott mentioned that her sister was sick.

Well Mother the family is pretty well divided, but cheer up, here's hoping we all come home and settle like respectable citizens, God willing and we're having our own little period of wondering.

We are expecting to move camp next week; the left half have gone already. Your letters will reach us all right. I'll let you know the address in my next letter. It's about 8 miles west of here. We have too many sand storms here.

It's getting too dark to write now so I'll have to close unless I can dig up a candle. It gets dark by nine here and starts to get light at 2:30.

I have not got much news as things go just the same. Well remember me to everyone and tell us all the news you can. Time to go to bed.

Love,

Jack
