April 6th 16

Dear Jack:-

I sure was pleased to receive your letter. You will be glad to hear I have seen Dad. He's looking good, only a little greyer.

You will be sorry to hear Sergeant Major Williams, Sgt. Wellstead, Cooper, P. Smith & some more out of the battalion are killed. Robson, Lt. McGaw, Lt. Willon, Lt. Wilson and about 50 others are wounded. The 8th Platoon got it the worst. Pretty tough eh?

Answer this letter as soon as possible because the censor might not let it go through.

I'm thinking of getting Dad to claim me. I haven't decided yet but he wants me to go. Our medical transport is getting broken up.

Well Jack I hope you are well. I can't think of much more to say. We have been moving every day lately and have had no chance to write.

Your loving brother,

Syd
