Dear Mother & Dad

Youll likely have my cable by now because I wrote Mrs. Armitage the first day and asked her to send one. I have had no reply from her yet so think she must be away. However I'm allright and theres no cause to worry. I have been exrayed twice and they've located the shrapnel about three inches down from the wounds Its just in the muscle. I am walking around and have had two passes to Maidenhead. I can't feel it at all. The docter who exrayed me said I was pretty lucky. It hit a rib and went down the muscle. Good job it hit the rib or id have been going yet. I wish I could hear how Ceal and the boys made out. I wrote him as soon as I came here but haven't had any answer. I was all over the Waldorf Astors estate today. It's a pretty nice place alright. The have one big pond full of gold fish. They are the biggest ive ever seen. I haven't had any mail yet so I'll write to the battery again and get it forwarded I am going to have my picture taken this afternoon in the blues. Well don't worry people and write often. I am in JI ward don't forget.

Love to all,
Bert
