Bill dear:

Had quite a session at work today - all day meeting. The part I like about that sort of thing is the luncheon. We always have a cocktail before lunch. Mr. Baldwin made the one today, (and I helped) and say when he makes a cocktail he really makes a job of it. I couldn't drink all of mine.

Darling if you ever decide to take out your citizenship papers let me now and I'll be right over. Besides maybe I should come over there, maybe they have forgotten about you and the only way we'll be able to get to see each other is for me to come to you. I'd love to. Oh well time will tell.

We have a new switchboard girl at the Gallery now. (Your father may have told you.) She's 19 and cute as a button, and her boyfriend is in Holland. So we sympathize with each other. At last they've got somebody my age. I was getting a bit dead from working with such a lot of "old maids." (Don't you tell anybody that I said that.) I showed Anne (the new girl) your picture today and she said she could easily see why I'm waiting for you, but really she doesn't know the half of it.

Everybody sends their love, and Bill dear, please give that fellow in the mirror a big kiss for me and tell him I send all my love.

Love, as ever,

Your Hilda.

P.S. Give the Clarkes my regards. And also tell Bill M. I hope his luck soon changes and that you and he will get your posting home real soon.
