Dear Mother

I hope you received my reply to your telegram. I came out all right. I was in the mix up the first night in the canteen, but that was enough for me. I didn't see the force of getting my head bashed in by a brick at this stage in the game. So I remained a spectator after that.

I am on draft for Canada all right this time with all the papers fixed up all right. We are just waiting for them to come back from London so as to go to the military districts. There seems to be a possibility of getting leave from the M.D. so I may be able to get some from there. The man that behaves himself gets nothing the only thing to do is to kick up a disturbance if you want anything done.

Thanks for the little port of ointment. I didn't need it however for that little spot had disappeared before I go back to camp.

Hope you will remember the ring [?] when you are up in town sometime.

Much love

Cuthbert
