Dear Dad:

I'm sure your heart goes out to poor us in the British Pacific Fleet on a day like this!
We all spent last night yarning about what we would like to be doing on this auspicious occasion.

It ended up in mutual agreement - a new blue uniform - a good crease in the trousers - a clean shirt and collar plus a feeling of physical fitness.

It's 5 minutes to six and we are striding quickly down Piccadilly towards the Berkeley Battery for a few quick ones - need I go on?

Hope everyone at home is as fit and cheerful as we are.

Lots of love

Bill
