RAF Sumburgh

Dear Mother:

How is everyone at 1608? No more sickness I hope.

Do you remember that picture you cut out of Toronto Star showing fighter pilot in a Fulmar which you thought was me. It wasn't, but it was taken at the school and showed a gent pal of mine called McKinnon who is armament officer there and one of the instructors.

I am looking forward to going back to sea and probably going abroad again. Going to an absolutely new ship - accommodation should be good.

Living in a Nissen Hut here very much like the last war!

Would like to be home very much, but have lots of work to do over here first.

Calgary seems a long way off indeed and a very pleasant place to live.

`My heavy gear is chasing me again. Last year you remember it chased me for ten months and some of it never came along - Glorious. Still, better hopes now if I don't push off suddenly.

Could you make me a small bag to hold shaving tackle, soap, etc. -you know, with a string attached. Don't knit any more scarves - I have quite a few now, but socks are always acceptable!

How is the mail getting through now? Hope you receive letters fairly regularly.

Give my love to Ronny, Jean, and Dad and Bob.

Best of love to yourself
