LECONFIELD. East Yorks.
21st February 1944.

Dear Mr. Wilson

It is with the greatest regret that I have to write you confirming the telegram from Air Ministry informing you that your son, Flight Sergeant Thomas Orval Wilson has been reported missing from an operational sortie against Leipzig on the night of February 19th, 1944.
The aircraft, of which your son was the Air Bomber took off at approximately midnight on the 19th February, and nothing further has been heard of him since. Should we obtain any further information about him, I will certainly let you know.
It is desired to explain that the request in the telegram notifying you of the casualty of your son, was included with publicity, in case he is still at large. This is not to say that any information about him is available, but is a precaution adopted in the case of all personnel reported missing.
Your son's personal effects are being collected together and will be forwarded to the Standing Committee of Adjustment, Colnbrook, Slough, Buckinghamshire, for onward transmission to you in due course.
Flight Sergeant Wilson is greatly missed by his many friends in the squadron, and I would like to extend to you my deepest sympathy in your great loss.
Should there be anything further I can do to help, please do not hesitate to write me.

Yours Sincerely,

[?] Eayes
Wing Commander.

Mr. E. Wilson
